The Client Security’s Board  (“CSB”) was established by the Supreme Judicial Court to assist clients recover funds stolen by their lawyers while acting as attorneys or fiduciaries.

For the past five years, the CSB has awarded an average of $1.4M to claimants.  Approximately 25% of these awards were made to reimburse losses from trusts and estates.

Topics will include why trusts and estates are vulnerable to unscrupulous attorneys, what you can do if a client contacts you to discuss a suspected theft from a trust or an estate, criminal prosecution of former lawyers who stole from their clients, and preventive measures that would curb theft from trusts and estates.  The panelists will also discuss practical tips on filing a petition at the CSB and obtaining an award.
