Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Before you can register to attend this event, you must log into the Boston Bar web site.

Description:

With little guidance from the IRS, there may be more questions than answers regarding the tax treatment of virtual currencies and initial coin offerings.  This program will highlight the tax considerations faced by investors and issuers and discuss the relevant tax analysis.

With respect to initial coin offerings, the program will focus on the income tax consequences to issuers of issuing tokens and discuss tax considerations for issuers considering using tokens (rather than equity) to compensate employees.

With respect to virtual currencies, the program will spotlight several key issues and uncertainties faced by investors holding such currencies, focusing on both direct investments and investments through collective investment vehicles.
