Insights into an Ever-Changing Landscape at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights

Wednesday, February 13, 2019 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

This Program is designed to provide the audience practical insight into a number of issues involving the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (“OCR”).  The session will include an overview of where the proposed regulatory updates for sexual misconduct stand, the administrative process that should occur next, and the ultimate impact on higher education.  From there, we will discuss changes to the OCR’s Case Processing Manual and the practical impact of those changes on post-secondary campuses.  We will then discuss potential updates to the OCR’s approach to website accessibility.  The goal of the session is to provide an update to what is happening at OCR and to provide practical tools that institutions can take back to their campus.
