Drug Testing and Sobriety Monitoring in Custody Cases

Wednesday, March 13, 2019 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Join us for a well-rounded panel discussing a topic that is an issue in an increasing number of custody cases pending in the Probate and Family Court:  How to appropriately address concerns over a parent’s alleged use of illicit drugs and how to ensure that the children involved in these custody cases are kept safe.  Joining the panel to address the issue from various perspectives will be a drug testing and sobriety monitoring expert, a Probate and Family Court Probation Officer, and a practicing family law attorney.  We will discuss the latest in emerging technology to test for drug use and monitor sobriety, as well as how the Probate and Family Court’s Probation Department will typically address these types of concerns.  From a practitioner’s standpoint, we will also discuss how to approach the issue both if your client is the party expressing concern for the other party or if your client is the alleged bad actor.
