CLE- Protecting Client Information: Lawyers' Obligations of Confidentiality, Privacy & Data Security

This CLE program will provide an overview of ethical and legal rules requiring lawyers to protect client information, including the Massachusetts Rules of Professional Conduct, HIPAA, The Massachusetts Data Security Regulation (201 CMR 17.00), and common law fiduciary duties. The program will present case studies, review external risks that could result in unauthorized disclosure of client information, and provide practical takeaways to help address the challenge solo practitioners and small law firms face in meeting their confidentiality, privacy, and cybersecurity obligations.
