Climate Change & the Massachusetts Public Waterfront Act (Ch. 91)

Monday, November 18, 2019 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Global climate change has already had observable effects on the environment, including the coastline of Massachusetts. Join us as Conservation Law Foundation’s Senior Counsel and President Emeritus, Peter Shelley, presents CLF’s February 2019 report entitled Climate Change & the Massachusetts Public Waterfront Act, which examines the impacts of climate change on our coastal resources and the current regulatory framework designed to protect and hold these spaces for the public’s benefit. Attorney Shelley will present a brief primer on the Public Waterfront Act (Chapter 91), an analysis of flooding on Chapter 91 lands, how the current statutory and regulatory framework addresses climate change, and potential changes to the waterways regulations to assist in addressing climate change impacts.
