Foreign Influence on Research

Wednesday, September 11, 2019 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Over the past year there has been increased attention by all of the major federal agencies on the potential for foreign influence in academic research. While open science and international collaboration are critical to the advancement of science, higher education institutions and academic medical centers must also comply with the changing regulatory landscape. In this program, we will cover:

  • Overview of federal science agencies’ concerns and where we are headed
  • Strategies for responding to NIH inquiry and follow-up letters
  • Possible implications under antidiscrimination provisions related to race, ethnicity and national origin
  • Compliance and risk management best practices
