Green Building Codes: The New International Green Construction Code (IgCC), and the Mass. "Stretch Energy" Code

Tuesday, January 18, 2011 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

This presentation, featuring A. Vernon Woodworth, R.W. Sullivan Engineering, will allow attendees to learn about the latest major developments in sustainable building codes. The International Code Council has developed a new International Green Construction Code (IgCC), which moves beyond the LEED voluntary rating system to create regulations for the sustainable design, construction, and operations of green buildings and sites. State and local officials in Massachusetts have begun to consider the potential adoption of the IgCC, while Rhode Island has already adopted the IgCC for publicly funded buildings. Massachusetts also adopted the "stretch energy" code into the state building code one year ago. This optional enhanced energy code has been adopted by over 50 communities, many of whom are seeking designation as "Green Communities".

This program is registered with the American Institute of Architects for Learning Units.
