Predatory Lending, Unlawful Foreclosures, and Attorney General Enforcement Initiatives

Monday, November 28, 2011 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Since Attorney General Martha Coakley took office in 2007, she has focused significant resources on the fall-out from the subprime lending debacle, the role of securitization, and, more recently, to unlawful foreclosures in the Commonwealth.  AAGs from Coakley’s Public Protection and Advocacy Bureaus will discuss the enforcement initiatives to date, the challenges faced and the results obtained, as well as the enforcement matters currently underway, and how the AG’s initiatives relate to single-borrower cases handled by private attorneys.

The presentation will touch on unfair lending cases, discriminatory lending, securitization settlements, and enforcement initiatives in the wake of Ibanez and Bevilacqua decisions. It will also highlight opportunities for collaboration between the AG’s office and legal services practitioners.
