Fracking and Shale Gas, Part I: Impacts on Energy Markets and Massachusetts

Tuesday, March 6, 2012 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

Description:

Shale gas and hydraulic fracturing (fracking) are all over the news, but what do they really mean for Massachusetts?  Please join Susan Tierney, Managing Principal at Analysis Group, as she shares her views on shale gas and fracking.  A member of the Shale Gas Subcommittee of the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board and the policy leader of the recent National Petroleum Council’s study on natural gas, Sue brings insights into the implications of the resource base, state and federal policy developments relating to shale gas, and their implications for Massachusetts.  Dr. Tierney will specifically address shale gas development in Pennsylvania and New York, impacts on energy markets generally, and on electricity prices in Massachusetts.  Lively question and answer session to follow.

The second part of this program, Fracking and Shale Gas, Part II: The Science and Policy Debate, will be on March 20 at 12:30 pm.
