CLE - U.S. Immigration Options for Entrepreneurs and Investors

Wednesday, November 30, 2011 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Boston Bar Association - 16 Beacon Street, Boston, MA

The United States continues to be a strong investment option for foreign corporations and entrepreneurs wishing to start a new business. The Northeast/New England region is a particularly attractive area for investment.  It has a high concentration of universities and research institutions, a diversified business community and an educated, talented workforce across the biotechnology, clean-tech, banking and financial services and IT sectors. It is also is a tourist destination, due to its history, and its beauty.

Now more than ever, the federal government, and state and municipal governments are anxious to attract entrepreneurs and investors with the ideas and the capital to fuel new job opportunities and job growth.

This program will explore two types of visas that are of particular interest to foreign entrepreneurs and investors looking to live and work in the U.S.  In addition, it will provide a practical, business-oriented perspective of what it takes to qualify for, secure and maintain one of these visas.  Panelists will discuss the preliminary considerations involved in determining whether one of these visas is the right choice or option, and review the standards and interpretations of what is a qualifying investment.  Attendees will gain valuable insight into the opportunities available and the potential obstacles foreign nationals face when seeking to live and work in the U.S.  via the entrepreneur and investor visa categories.
