At the federal and state level, scrutiny of non profit governance practices is on the rise.  The IRS recently issued new directives bearing on Board practices and the attorney general has placed great attention on the operations of non profit boards.  Regulators and the press are perpetually on the watch for perceived abuses.  As a result, sound governance practices are essential to withstand the heightened scrutiny.
