Renewable energy.  Carbon Footprints. Energy security.  Economic Development. Solar Panels.  Wind Farms. Tax Credits.  Federal Grants.  Portfolio Standards. Net Metering.  Offshore Wind.  SRECs.  PPAs. Interconnection. These terms are increasingly in the news, in the public eye, and in the business plans of your clients. It’s time you learned more about them.

With the economic downturn, federal tax credits expiring, incentives dwindling, utilities’ net metering quotas filling up, and concerns being raised about the cost of state energy policies, what will the future of renewable energy development look like in the next few years?   Only a few years have passed since Massachusetts took aggressive steps to promote the development of renewable and alternative energy through the Green Communities Act and other initiatives, but a lot has changed since then.

Attend this seminar to learn what drives renewable generation deals, what financing structures work the best in the current regulatory environment, things to look for in typical project contracts, how to navigate interconnection agreements, and what permitting pitfalls to avoid.

Specific Topics:

I. Introduction and Overview of Renewable Energy Trends and Policies
II. The Development of a Renewable Energy Project:  Deal Structuring, Financing, Credits, and Incentives
III. Legal Fundamentals:  Standard Contracts & Agreements
